Application of Silfluo Silicone Oil in the Field of Release Agent

Silicone oil release agent is a secondary processed product of silicone oil prepared with silicone oil as base oil, dispersing components and various additives. It has oil type, emulsion type, solvent type, ointment type, aerosol type and other forms. Widely used in rubber, plastic and shell casting industries. Compared with other types of release agents, silicone oil release agents have the following characteristics: small surface tension, easy to spread, and can form extremely thin films on the fine parts of the mold; incompatible with most polymer materials, excellent mold release properties; good heat resistance and chemical stability, no chemical reaction to the materials in contact, and no corrosion of the mold. No smoke and odor when used; no pollution to the surface of molded products, and can impart gloss; less coating amount, good mold release durability; no physiological activity.

1. Oily release agent

When the release system cannot be exposed to moisture, organic solvents, silica and emulsifiers, silicone oil can be used directly as a release agent, and it can be applied to the surface of the mold with soft leather or cloth.

2. Solution type release agent

Solution-type release agent is prepared by dissolving or dispersing silicone oil and additives in organic solvents, and the general content of active ingredients is 5-50%. According to the different types of silicone oil used, viscosity and additives, it is divided into several series. It is mainly used for shell mold casting, die casting, and forming of rubber and plastic products.

The solution-type silicone oil release agent is mainly composed of various silicone oils, and other additives to improve the release properties such as various waxes, mica powder, talcum powder, clay, MQ type silicone resin and polymethylsilsesquioxane micropowder can also be added.

3. Emulsion type silicone oil release agent

Pure silicone oil release agent is not convenient to use, and the release effect is not satisfactory. The use of solution-type release agents has the risk of fire and poisoning, so emulsion-type release agents have been developed and have become the mainstream product of release agents. Emulsion-type mold release agent can be obtained by mechanical emulsification method, that is, silicone oil and water are dispersed under the action of emulsifier, or it can be obtained by emulsification polymerization in water system under the action of emulsifier and catalyst, starting from oligosiloxane through emulsion combination. It is further diluted with water to form an emulsion with a silicone oil concentration of 0.2% to 1.0% (mass fraction) before use. The diluted emulsion becomes less stable and should be used up as soon as possible. Emulsion-type release agent is very advantageous in terms of cost, fire prevention and sanitation, so it has strong market competitiveness.

But it also has three disadvantages: the volatility of water is too poor, so it is not suitable to be used as a low-temperature mold release agent; the wettability of substrates, especially polymer materials is poor; the use of emulsifiers reduces the precision of products. If it is continuously diluted with ordinary hard water, scale will be formed on the surface of the mold. If it is not cleaned frequently, it will further affect the precision of the product, so it is better to dilute the emulsion with soft water.
